Common questions
What is Kochi Directory?
Kochi Directory is a business and public-institution register for Kochi and the wider Ernakulam district of Kerala. It currently holds 310 listings across 17 categories and 63 localities: 49 private businesses, each manually verified before publishing, and 261 public institutions such as government offices, hospitals, transport and utilities, which are compiled from official public sources and labelled that way. Every listing is an ordinary web page carrying Schema.org structured data, so it can be read both by people and by search and AI systems.
Do I need to pay or create an account to search Kochi Directory?
No. Every category, locality, listing and collection page is public, with no account and no login wall for browsing or searching. The only sign-in a visitor ever sees is an optional provider portal, where a business owner can claim and manage their own listing. If you are a business asking what a listing costs: submit your business and we verify it, usually within 48 hours, and you can get in touch for our current listing and premium-placement plans.
Does Kochi Directory cover government offices as well as private businesses?
Yes, and public institutions are the larger part of the register. 261 of the 310 entries are public bodies, including the Ernakulam District Collectorate, taluk offices, police stations, KSEB electrical sections and divisions, government hospitals, railway stations, metro stations and ferry terminals. These are compiled from official public sources as a service to residents, are not affiliated with or endorsed by the institutions themselves, and every such page says so. The other 49 entries are private businesses, which are manually verified before they are published.
How do I find a list of hospitals in Kochi, or any other category?
Use the search box at the top of the homepage, or browse the register by category and by locality. Healthcare has 50 listings, government and public services 138, transport 36, education 28 and finance 17, and any category can be narrowed to a locality such as Kakkanad, Edappally or Fort Kochi. The homepage also groups listings into editorial collections including Trusted Healthcare, Government Hospitals and Getting Around Kochi.
How are listings verified, and how long does verification take?
A person checks a business listing before it goes live: that the business genuinely exists under the listed name, that the phone, email and website belong to it, and that it operates from the Kochi locality shown. The stated turnaround is 24 to 48 hours from submission. Verification cannot be bought, and listings that fail re-verification are marked pending or removed. Public-institution entries are handled differently: they are compiled from official public sources rather than checked with the institution, and every such page states this.
How is Kochi Directory different from other business directories in Kochi?
Three things. Enquiries reach the listed business directly, and contact details are never resold or used for telemarketing. Verification is done by hand and cannot be paid for, and neither can the editorial Gold List, which only fully verified businesses with a sustained exceptional reputation receive and which most listings will never earn. And every listing is published with Schema.org structured data, with the robots file explicitly allowing GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended alongside Googlebot and Bingbot.
How up to date is the information on Kochi Directory?
Every listing page states when it was last checked, and the dataset is currently marked as updated in July 2026. Business pages say last verified by Kochi Directory; institution pages say last checked against public sources. Listings that fail re-verification are marked pending or removed. Details such as addresses, numbers and timings can still change without notice, so confirm directly before you travel or transact, and if you spot a wrong number, a moved office or a closed business, email admin.kochidirectory@gmail.com and verified corrections are made promptly.
Which parts of Kochi and Ernakulam does the directory cover?
The register covers 63 localities across Kochi and the wider Ernakulam district, not only the city core. That includes central areas such as Fort Kochi, Mattancherry, MG Road, Marine Drive, Kakkanad and Edappally, and outlying towns such as Aluva, Perumbavoor, Angamaly, Kalamassery, Muvattupuzha, Kothamangalam and North Paravur. Any category can be narrowed to a single locality, so you can look up hospitals in Aluva or government offices in Kakkanad rather than the whole district.
